East Coast Gas Study – Port Kembla LNG

Stockton Drilling Services were engaged by WorleyParsons to assist in the planning and route selection of a 400mm diameter steel gas pipeline that will transport gas from Port Kembla Berth101 to the Jemena metering station adjacent to Five Islands Road.

The route is expected to include a number of crossings that will be installed by Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). Stockton provided technical engineering to determine the optimum crossing locations and feasible drilling profiles that would be used to inform the final design.

The base case route included 6 short distance HDD’s with three of the locations offering alternative layouts that could be considered if required depending of further discussions with stakeholders.

Stockton also provided route selection and technical engineering assessments for the Port Kembla Lateral Looping route which will include several trenchless crossings. These six (6) crossings as well as alternatives alignments were developed by Stockton for the proposed 400mm diameter steel gas pipeline that will transport gas from Cringila adjacent to Five Islands Road to the Kembla Grange MLV Station.

By utilising HDD there was a potential to reduce construction costs and schedule.
